Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TrueSize ("the Service"), including our website at truesize.net, mobile applications, and the TrueSize Challenge game, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

Description of Service

TrueSize is an interactive educational tool that allows users to:

• Compare true sizes of countries, regions, and territories on a map
• Move, rotate, and position geographic shapes to understand map projection distortion
• Access historical borders and territories from various time periods
• Play the TrueSize Challenge game to test geography knowledge
• Export and share geographic visualizations
• Import custom geographic data (GeoJSON/TopoJSON)

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

License and Restrictions

Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the Service without express written permission
• Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service without authorization
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers/networks connected to the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, user accounts, or computer systems
• Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• Use the Service to transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
• Collect or harvest personal information about other users

Geographic Data

• Map data is sourced from OpenStreetMap and other geographic data providers
• Satellite imagery is provided by third-party tile services
• You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any data displayed
• Territory boundaries and names may be disputed and are shown for educational purposes only

User Content

Content You Upload

When you import custom GeoJSON/TopoJSON files:

• You retain all rights to your content
• You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to display your content within the Service
• You represent that you have the right to upload and share this content
• We are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of user-uploaded content

URL Sharing

• Shareable URLs contain compressed map state data
• URLs you generate may be publicly accessible to anyone with the link
• Do not include sensitive or private information in your map configurations
• We reserve the right to remove or disable URLs that violate these Terms

TrueSize Challenge Game

Game Terms

By playing the TrueSize Challenge game:

• You acknowledge that the game is for entertainment and educational purposes only
• High scores are stored locally in your browser and may be reset
• We do not guarantee continuous availability of game features
• Game content (territories, difficulty levels) may change without notice
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the game at any time

Fair Play

You agree to:

• Play the game honestly without using automation or cheating tools
• Not exploit bugs or glitches for unfair advantage
• Not interfere with other users' game experience

Analytics and Advertising

Analytics

We use analytics tools (including Google Analytics) to:

• Track usage patterns and service performance
• Understand user behavior and preferences

Trademarks

"TrueSize" and related marks are trademarks of TrueSize. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services:

• Map Tile Providers: OpenStreetMap, satellite imagery providers
• Analytics: Google Analytics and similar services
• Advertising Networks: Various ad networks and exchanges
• CDN and Hosting: Content delivery and cloud infrastructure providers

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content.

Disclaimers

"AS IS" Service

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Accuracy

• Geographic data may contain errors or inaccuracies
• Territory boundaries shown are for educational purposes and may not reflect current political boundaries
• Historical borders are approximations based on available historical records
• Population and area statistics are estimates from various sources
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information

Availability

We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Defects will be corrected
• The Service is free from viruses or harmful components
• Results obtained from the Service will be accurate or reliable

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
• WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES

• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Your uploaded content or shared URLs

Geographic and Political Neutrality

• Territory boundaries and names shown are for educational and illustrative purposes
• Display of any territory does not imply political endorsement or recognition
• We acknowledge that borders and territorial sovereignty are subject to international law and may be disputed
• Users should refer to official sources for authoritative geographic and political information

Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time
• Change features, functionality, or game difficulty
• Update geographic data, maps, and territory information
• Impose limits on usage or features
• Require software updates for continued access

We are not liable for any modifications, suspensions, or discontinuations.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
