TrueSize Mobile App for iPhone and Android

The TrueSize app puts the true-size map in your pocket. It is free on iOS and Android, shares the same data as the website, and lets you drag any country over another to compare real sizes.

As of October 2026, the app is rated 4.7 from 283 ratings on the App Store (US) and about 4.4 from more than 900 ratings on Google Play.

What the app can do

  • Search more than 760,000 regions, from countries to towns, and drag them anywhere on the map with true size kept.
  • Open the historical timeline and see borders in any year. See Historical Borders Map.
  • Show nuclear blast radius rings. See Nuclear Blast Radius Map.
  • Count the people inside a circle or a shape you draw. See Population Radius Tool.
  • Measure distance and bearing, and draw custom shapes.
  • Use map types, skins, terrain relief and seafloor depth.
  • Show a Grid of parallels and meridians, turn true size off and on with Size, and switch North behavior.
  • Play the TrueSize Challenge and the Flag Quiz.
  • Share your map, and import GeoJSON or TopoJSON data.

How the app differs in use

  • The ribbon sits at the bottom of the screen, and tools open as sheets.
  • You use touch gestures instead of keyboard shortcuts.
  • Help, About and the tutorial are in the menu at the top left.
  • Ads are shown through Google AdMob, and a one-time purchase removes them.

The map needs portrait orientation on small screens — landscape leaves too little height to work with.
