TrueSize has 111 unions and alliances, including the EU, NATO, G7, BRICS, Schengen and Five Eyes. Search for one and all of its member countries load together, ready to move as one group, so you can see how a bloc really compares with the USA or Africa.

How to load a union

1. Open the map at truesize.net.
2. On the Home tab, type the name of the union in the search box, for example "European Union", "NATO" or "BRICS".
3. Pick the result marked as a union. All member countries appear on the map together.
4. Drag any member. The members move as one group and keep their shape and true area.
5. Move the group beside another country or continent at the same latitude to compare.

Search results also include continents, so you can drop a whole continent next to a union in the same way.

Move and customize a union

• A union has its own name and color. Click it to open its card, where you can rename it, change the Union color and use Merge into one territory to turn the members into a single shape.
• To work with one member only, use Divide and Merge as described in Divide and Merge Regions.
• Use Select, Shift+click or a Shift+drag box to pick several unions or countries and move them together.

Get the totals

Open Tools and press Stats. The panel shows the total area and the total population of everything loaded. With a union on the map, you get the combined figures of the whole bloc. Compare them with another union to see, for example, whether the EU or NATO is larger by area or by population.

Build your own union

You are not limited to the built-in list. Select a few countries, click Union (tooltip: Create union), then name it in the Union name field. You can then move and recolor it like any built-in union. The steps are in Divide and Merge Regions.
