Flag Quiz: Which Region Has This Flag?

In the Flag Quiz a mystery flag appears and you choose which of two regions it belongs to, with 15 seconds on the clock. The pool holds 49,606 flags in 8 difficulty tiers, so it starts with well-known countries and slowly moves on to states, provinces, territories and historical flags.

  3. The question reads "Which territory uses this flag?". The flag is shown in the header and two regions are placed on the map.
  4. Click the button with the name of the region you think is correct before the timer reaches zero.
  5. TrueSize reveals the answer with the flag, the region's name, area and population, and a short description. Click Next Round after a correct answer.
  6. A wrong answer or a timeout ends the run. Click Play Again to start over.

You earn one point for every correct answer. Your best score is saved in your browser.

Difficulty tiers

Flags are grouped into 8 tiers. The first tier holds sovereign countries. Later tiers hold less familiar regions, and the last tier has the smallest and historical ones. The tier rises as you answer correctly, and the steps get a little longer each time:

After every round you learn something about the region the flag belongs to.

Tips for better scores

  • Look at the layout first (stripes, crosses, triangles) and then at the colors.
  • Many flags look alike. Neighboring countries, former colonies and Nordic crosses are the usual traps.
  • When you are unsure, think about which of the two regions is more likely to have a design like this.
  • Use the answer screen to learn. The same flag may come back in a later run.

Identify a flag outside the game

If you have a flag but no name, the Flag Identifier finds it from a picture, colors or a description. See Flag Identifier.

Exit the quiz

Click the close button in the header and confirm with Exit Quiz. Your scores are saved.

The map needs portrait orientation on small screens — landscape leaves too little height to work with.
